Our History

1909

A trading company is set up in Ravensburg by August Steinhauser. The forerunner of today's Steinhauser GmbH deals with fruits for industrial processing. Until today the region between Ravensburg and the Lake Constance is famous for its fruits.

1955

The plant "Vitalla" in Mindelheim is bought.  Steinhauser starts with the production of fruit juices. In the beginning two businesses are kept running - the trading of juices and the bottling of the brand "Vitalla". In 1970, a strategic decision lets the company give up the bottling business and focus on the concentrate business.

1963

A production facility in the South of Europe. The new plant C.A.S. S.p.A. has been founded in the North Italian village Castagnaro (VR). The "Veneto" region between Lake Garda and Venice, as well as the neighbour regions supply a broad choice of sun-ripened fruits.

1987

Pioneers in organic food. Steinhauser is a forerunner in new products especially for the baby food industry. At first, fruit from controlled agriculture is being processed. In 1991, the C.A.S. supports the upcoming trend for natural food by supervising the revolutionary study of extended organic agriculture in Italy.

As a result the Italian fruit producers and the C.A.S. work close together to build big organic orchards.

1994

Steinhauser business locations in America. The expansion of the north American business makes it possible to open an own sales office in the USA. In the same year Steinhauser started the own production in Argentina with the two plants of the Zumos Argentinos.

From now on the Steinhauser Group produces in either hemisphere and can take advantage of the contrary seasons, this means: fresh production of season-related products all year long.

1997

A plant in Eastern Europe. After several years of trading with Polish juice concentrates and after different joint ventures, Steinhauser buys the own plant in Warka and enlarges it immediately.  In 2001, Warka is expanded again and produces nearly on double capacity. The plant is continuously enlarged .

1998

A new plant in Argentina.  Due to permanent overpressure as well as walls and floors covered with stainless steel the newly-constructed plant in Cinco Saltos sets a new benchmark in the hygiene of fruit juice plants.
